Hyundai Santa Cruz

Hyundai Santa Cruz

As a number five automaker in the world, Hyundai apparently did not want to miss Pick-Up truck market in North America. But considering the sales volume of Hyundai in US and Canada, it was always not understandable why they did not introduce any Pick-Up there. Finally they have brought a model “Santa Cruz” a car-truck.

Probably somebody who is accustomed to the “full” size of Pick-Up from American OEM such as Ford or GM, he can tell that Santa-Cruz is too small, but I have different idea. I like bit smaller one than the full size and a pick-up with lower floor and comfortable driving with smaller engine, something like hybrid of car and truck.

I have been waiting this kind of concept truck quite long, and finally Hyundai has got it. They have informed this would be equipped with 2.0L Gasoline Turbo engine (I think this engine is Hyundai “Theta” engine) which can supply 190 HP. With this size, 190 HP engine would be thought a small one, but if he or she is not going to dive the nose not so deep into the mud, it would be ok, I think.  I hope Hyundai would launch this Santa-Cruz as soon as possible and as close as this concept as in Detroit.
